An omission in my first demo was specifically label elements; I don&#039;t think they should be omitted and I added them to the demo (http://robertnyman.com/playground/placeholder/) a few days ago just to avoid confusion.

However, I didn&#039;t add it to the code in the blog post, because people had already commented on that and I felt it was most fair to keep that the way it was (since there wasn&#039;t any substantial problem with the first approach).

However, it&#039;s interesting to note that the way placeholder is used in iOS, it is indeed meant to replace labels and to save room.
